Summer on Chicago’s North Shore

Wilmette Downtown

Why Now Is the Perfect Time to Explore (and Maybe Make a Move)

There’s something magical about summer on the North Shore. Maybe it’s the long, golden evenings. Maybe it’s the way each town seems to come alive with music, markets, and neighbors out walking their dogs. Whatever it is—this is one of the best times of year to explore everything the North Shore has to offer.

If you’re new to the area, considering a move, or just looking for something fun to do close to home, here are a few can’t-miss events and spots that make this summer one to savor.

🎶 Ravinia is Back—and the Lineup is Stacked

Ravinia Festival in Highland Park runs through August 31, and the lineup this year is incredible. Judy Collins opens the season (June 6), and there’s a one-night-only show with Grace Jones and Janelle Monáe (June 7) that’s going to be unreal. Pack a picnic, grab a bottle of wine, and enjoy world-class music under the stars.

🌈 First Fridays, Markets & Summer Strolls

You’ll find me wandering Central Street in Evanston for First Fridays: Pride’s Alive on June 6—shops stay open late, there’s always live music, and the sense of community is unbeatable. Then every Thursday starting June 5, the Downtown Evanston Night Market takes over with local artists, food vendors, and live entertainment. Great way to get to know the small businesses that make this area special.

🖼️ Art, Architecture & A Bit of Culture

If you’re into art, don’t miss Evanston Made’s First Saturdays (June 7) or the walking tour of Evanston’s historic double houses. It’s a fun way to see a different side of the community—and maybe even get a little home inspo along the way.

For something completely unique, the Hokusai & Ukiyo-e exhibit opens June 7 at the Cleve Carney Museum of Art. It’s the U.S. debut of this Japanese master’s work—think “The Great Wave” and so much more. Worth the drive to Glen Ellyn.

🚴‍♂️ Gardens, Trails & Outdoor Escapes

  • Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe is stunning year-round, but especially now. Bring the kids, take a stroll, or check out their summer programs.

  • Green Bay Trail and Skokie Valley Trail are perfect if you’re into biking or long morning walks. You’ll wind through tree-lined neighborhoods and peaceful open space.

  • Want something more off the beaten path? Check out the North Shore Channel Trail—ideal for a run, a paddle, or a quiet place to think.

🏡 Thinking About a Move?

Here’s the thing: the best way to fall in love with a place is to spend time in it. Go to the markets. See a show. Get coffee in a different town every weekend. That’s when you realize what “home” can really feel like.

If you’re thinking about making a move—whether that’s into your next home, your first home, or into a neighborhood that better matches your lifestyle—I’d love to help you find the right fit. I live here. I work here. And I believe in helping people build a life they love.

Let’s talk about what’s next.
